HSBC CANADA SEVENS HEALTH & SAFETY

The health and safety of players, spectators, and all involved in the events remains our top priority. We will continue to closely monitor global developments and are in constant communication with all levels of government and health authorities.

Key information for attending fans:

Are masks mandatory?

Masks are required to be worn in all areas of Commonwealth Stadium except when seated in your seats.

Do you need to be vaccinated to come to Sevens?

After discussions with Alberta Health Services and tournament stakeholders, Rugby Canada is pleased to confirm the 2021 HSBC Canada Sevens Edmonton will move forward under the Restriction Exemption Program. In accordance with this program, discretionary businesses and events must make changes in order to comply with new restrictions. To ensure a commitment to the health and safety of all involved with the event, Rugby Canada has elected to implement enhanced changes for fan attendance.

All event attendees aged 12 and over must show proof of vaccination in order to enter Commonweath Stadium. In order to maintain consistency with requirements for tournament team and staff participation, full vaccination (two doses) will be required. In addition, Rugby Canada are asking fans to ensure they are symptom-free and have had no close contacts with a positive COVID-19 case.

Proof of full vaccination must be in the form of documentation issued by the public health authority that administered the vaccine (for example: Alberta Health COVID-19 vaccine card; MyAlbertaHealth Vaccination Record, a government-issued vaccination record or receipt from another Canadian province or territory; a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued vaccination card; or record of vaccination from the healthcare provider that administered the vaccines). The documentation can be displayed either on a mobile device or through printed documentation.

Have the events been approved (by government)?

Yes, the Provincial Health Authorities have fully supported both events in their planning and executions and Canada Sevens will operate within all relevant local restrictions in both Vancouver and Edmonton. Detailed COVID plans and protocols have been put in place for teams and tournament staff, while both host stadiums have updated COVID-19 policies to comply with provincial health guidance.

Will there be separate entrances for specific tickets?

Yes, please refer to your ticket for your entry gate.

Will social distancing be in effect?

Although strict social distancing will not be in effect, efforts have been made to ensure there is appropriate space within the seating areas in Vancouver and Edmonton. At this time, Edmonton is expected to be at about 60% of available seating capacity. All guests MUST comply with all relevant public health orders and guidelines at the time of the event.
